Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs & Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sandhu has said that setting up of Provincial Commission on Human Rights will help resolve problems of minorities.
He was addressing a consultative meeting on rights of minorities arranged by Faces Pakistan, here today. Javed William of Faces Pakistan informed the participants about the aims and objectives of the meeting as well as protection of the rights of minorities in the light of the decision of the Supreme Court. Members Provincial Assembly Kanji Ram and Shakil Ivan, Advocate Suba Saroya, Kashif Nawab, Khalid Qayyum, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, Maulana Zubair, Maulvi Abdul Wahid besides others were present.
Khalil Tahir Sandhu apprised the meeting about the measures taken by provincial government for the protection of rights of minorities. He said that minorities have equal rights under the constitution of Pakistan. He said that all religions give the message of mutual harmony, love and brotherhood. He said that registration of churches is continuing across the province. He said that it is collective responsibility of all citizens to strive for establishment of a peaceful and welfare society. He said that all issues should be resolved through dialogue.
