Advisor to the Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique has directed that all efforts should be done for effective control on dengue in Punjab especially in Rawalpindi. He directed that every method should be adopted the collaborated efforts of government departments, elected public representatives and the workers to overcome this menace.
He expressed these views while chairing a high level meeting in Commissioner’s office, Rawalpindi to review the dengue control activities by various government departments, today. Parliamentary Secretary Ch. Sarfraz Afzal, Zaibun Nisa Aiwan, Lubna Rehan MPAs, Secretary Health Jawwad Rafique Malik, DCO Sajid Zafar Dal, Prof. Waseem Akram and the senior officers of all concerned departments were present in the meeting. Khawaja Salman Rafique said that as directed by the Chief Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif vagarious efforts are being carried out to control the dengue spread in Rawalpindi and other cities and legal action is being taken on any violation of the rules and regulations. He observed that this year a large number of dengue cases are being reported from Rawalpindi due to which especial measures have been taken for disposing off dengue larvae and to control its spread. He directed that all the concerned departments and institutions should rectify their deficiencies and revisit their strategy and ensure effective control on dengue in Rawalpindi. He expressed his concern over increasing number of dengue patients in Rawalpindi and directed that beast medical treatment and intensive care should be ensured to the patients in the hospitals. DCO Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar Dal informed that indoor and outdoor dengue surveillance and case response is being done in the affected union councils on emergency basis. He said that all the departments have been moved to ensure full community participation in this campaign. Khawaja Salman Rafique directed that all the departments should focus on the field activities for dengue effective dengue control and people should also remove dengue breeding sites in and around their houses.
