Three New Universities Will Be Set Up In Punjab During Current Financial Year

Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that three new universities will be established in Punjab during current financial year. He said that these universities will be set up in Jhang, Sahiwal and Okara and will be constructed at a total cost of one billion and 32 crore rupees.

This was disclosed by Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan while presiding over a departmental meeting, today. Secretary Higher Education Irfan Ali and other officers attended the meeting.  

The Education Minister said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has diverted resources to education sector for bringing educational revolution in the province. He said that under this policy of the Chief Minister, new universities and colleges are being set up speedily in the province. He said that the Act for these three universities has been formulated. He said that Sahiwal University will cost Rs.27 crore, Jhang University Rs. 35 crore while Okara University Rs.70 crore.

Rana Mashhood Ahmed said hat Punjab government has set up 138 new colleges so far and 37 new buses have also been purchased for the transportation of male and female students of colleges. He said that computer labs have been established in 31 colleges for the promotion of computer education in colleges. The Education Minister said that due to practical steps of Chief Minister Punjab, Punjab has made tremendous progress in education and higher education and Punjab is taking lead in promotion of education over other three provinces. He said that the Provincial Education Department is taking more revolutionary steps for the promotion of education.
