Rana Mashhood Reviews Educational Partnership Programme

Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that the schools being non-functional, not giving good results and  having low number of students will be run under public private partnership for getting better results. He said that this step is aimed at providing quality educational facilities at far-flung areas with the cooperation of private sector.

He said this while addressing a meeting of steering committee set up for encouraging public private partnership in education sector at Lahore Education Board, here today. Chairman of the committee Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam Raja presented report of the committee in the meeting in which such 500 schools have been identified as do not have proper facilities, large number of enrolment and giving good results and are being run with only a teacher. The meeting discussed various proposals for evolving a method for activating these schools through Punjab Education Foundation. Rana Mashhood said that PEF model is an economic and through this model, the buildings of government schools and staff not being utilized properly can be converted to such useful educational institutions where quality education could be provided to the children.   

The Provincial Minister said that the model of care schools with regard to adopting government schools is also worth-mentioning. He said that under this model, there is no harm of handing over such schools having no proper facilities and showing poor performance to renowned NGOs of good repute which are rendering best services in education sector. Rana Mashhood directed the concerned officers to immediately evolve a criteria and prepare SOP for adoption of schools according to care model so that provision of quality education should be ensured under public private partnership for getting better results and materializing the dream of “Parho Punjab-Barho Punjab” of Chief Minister Punjab.
