Provincial Minister for Zakat & Usher Malik Nadeem Kamran has said that Punjab government is implementing a number of programmes speedily for improving living standard of the people. He said that the process of permanent rehabilitation of deserving persons in the society has been started. He said that in the first phase, a amount of one crore, 2 lakh and 50 thousand rupees on returnable basis has been provided to the deserving male and female students getting technical training from Punjab Vocational Training Institutes under Self-Employment Scheme.
He said this while presiding over a meeting held in connection with rehabilitation of deserving persons, here today. Secretary Zakat & Usher Habib ur Rehman Gillani, Administrator Zakat Muhammad Yousaf Butt and other concerned officers were present on the occasion. The Provincial Minister said that government has started various schemes for rehabilitation of deserving persons on permanent basis so that they could live honourably in the society.
Malik Nadeem Kamran said that process of provision of sewing and embroidery machines to the widows and destitute women is also being started in 2015-16 Budget. He said that 20 million rupees have been allocated for this purpose. He said that a comprehensive self-employment scheme has been evolved for deserving male and female students getting training from vocational training institutes being run by PVTC. He said that un-returnable amount from 50 thousand rupees to 2 lakh rupees is being provided to the eligible male and female students out of zakat fund under this programme. The Provincial Minister said that special attention is also being paid to the selection of male and female students on merit, their training and guidance under self-employment scheme. He said that last year, 41 million rupees had been allocated under this scheme and after successfulness of this programme, not only the amount has been increased to 60 million rupees this year but its scope has also been extended from six districts to nine districts.
Malik Nadeem Kamran stressed upon the officers to contact well-to-do people of their respective districts and brief them about self-employment scheme of the government for permanent rehabilitation of deserving persons so that maximum donations could be collected and deserving persons could benefit from this scheme.
