Zakat Fund To Be Used For Patients Despite Expiry Of CNIC

Provincial Minister for Zakat & Usher Malik Nadeem Kamran has said that decision has been made for the treatment of deserving patients through Zakat fund despite expiry of computerized identity cards. Earlier, such patients were not entertained due to expiry of identity cards.

He said this during a special meeting for improving the facilities being provided to the persons deserving zakat, here today. Provincial Secretary Zakat & Usher Habib ur Rehman Gillani, Administrator Zakat Muhammad Yousaf Butt and other concerned officers attended the meeting. The Provincial Minister said that it was not possible for the deserving patients coming from far-flung areas to get treatment facilities due to the expiry of computerized identity cards but now permission has been granted, however, it will be compulsory to submit photocopy of new identity card within two months to the medical social welfare officer.

Malik Nadeem Kamran said that every hospital had furnished a form of its kind for the treatment of deserving patients, due to which, patients had to face inconvenience but now a uniform entitlement form have been issued for the treatment of needy and deserving patients and Provincial Zakat Council has also granted approval in this regard.

Provincial Minister stressed upon the officers present in the meeting to help the needy patients and provide them all out assistance. He said that instructions have been issued to chairmen of district and local zakat committees to give respect to such needy and deserving persons who come to get themselves registered for getting zakat and other information. He further said that officers should submit practicable suggestions to simplify the process so that maximum relief could be provided to the deserving persons and their confidence could be increased in Zakat Department.
