Protective Measures Ensured For Dengue Eradication: Salman Rafique

Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq has directed concerned departments to ensure immediate protective measure for eradication of dengue. He said that there are chances of dengue breeding due to weather change. He said that awareness banners should be displayed at all chowks and prominent places. He said that awareness should be created through announcements in mosques and during assembly in the educational institutions so that people could be saved from this fatal disease.

He issued these instructions while presiding over a meeting with regard to eradication of dengue at Commissioner Office Rawalpindi. DCO Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar Daal, MD WASA Ch. Shaukat, EDO Health Dr. Nasir Mehmood and officers of other concerned departments attended the meeting.

Kh. Salman Rafique said that checking of tyre shops, mosques, graveyards, under construction buildings, educational institutions and junkyards should be ensured on daily basis. He said that strict action should be taken against those not extending cooperation in this regard. He said that there is chance of spread of Congo virus and breeding of dengue due to arrival of animals in the markets in connection with Eid ul Azha, therefore, the sacrificial animals should be limited to a specified area. He directed Solid Waste Management Companies to improve their performance.  
       
While giving briefing, EDO Health Rawalpindi Dr. Nasir Mehmood told that at present there are nine dengue patients in Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi out of which two patients have been discharged. He said that six patients with positive have been brought in district Hospital, out of which two have been admitted. He said that the total number of dengue patients in Rawalpindi is 26. Other focal persons also informed the meeting about their performance and the steps taken for eradication of dengue in their respective areas.
