Provincial Minister for Irrigation & Chairman PIDA, Mian Yawar Zaman has said that the role of labourers in look after and repair & maintenance of canal network more than hundred years old is laudable. He said that employees of Irrigation Department protect canal installations in every situation round the year so that canal water could be available to the farmers for their agri activities.
He expressed these views during meeting with small employees performing duties at different canals of Lahore zone on the occasion of International Labour Day. Senior officers of Irrigation Department and PIDA were also present on the occasion. The Minister said that the real target of development policies of Punjab government is to improve living standard of poor man so that they could achieve a commendable place in the society along with performing their role in national development. He said that “Baildars” are real custodian of revival of canal structure of Punjab who work hard day and night for look after and repair and maintenance of canals, barrages and water channels. He directed the officers to promote labour friendly strategy for facilitating the employees of Irrigation department so that they could serve the country in a better manner. Good wishes were also expressed for labour brethren on behalf of Provincial Minister.
