Minister Excise & Taxation, Finance and Law Punjab Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman has said that campaign against dengue fever is a continues effort and we will uphold our campaign against this curse. He said that government has provided record funds to health sector for imparting modern healthcare facilities. He said that by increasing the health budget up to 121.80 billion rupees, the present government has ensured modern health facilities and free medicines to poor and resource-less people. He said that people of rural and remote areas are also being provided treatment facilities through mobile health units and Rs. 1 billion has been provided for this purpose. He said that availability of medicines and precautionary sprays against dengue should be made available in the sensitive areas of the city. He said that huge sum of Rs.47.44 billion was being spent for treatment facility and upgrade the hospitals during current financial year.
While addressing various delegations in his constituency in Shalimar Town, Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman said that during last year elected representatives played a commendable role in promoting public awareness against dengue, whereas, every effort will be made by the government to prevent dengue virus taking serious proportions during current season. He said that ulema can successfully execute the awareness campaign in mosques especially during prayer hours to the society. He told that provincial government has given highest priority to health & education and the provincial health budget has been enhanced whereas, additional resources have been provided to accelerate the efforts for prompt achievement of millennium development goals (MDGs).
