Deputy speaker Punjab assembly hands over 21 trucks of relief items to D.C. Lasbela

 

Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Sher Ali Gorchani has said that government and people of Punjab will continue help of earthquake affectees till their complete rehabilitation. He said that relief items demanded last week by Chief Minister Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik, have been reached Lasbela today through 21 trucks whereas 41 trucks of relief goods have already been sent to Awaran which include 10500 tents, 31000 food hampers, 5000 mosquito nets and three truck medicines.

He expressed these views while talking to journalists at Hub on the occasion of handing over 21 trucks of relief items to Deputy Commissioner Lasbela Amir Aslam Tareen sent by Punjab government from Rahim Yar Khan, today. Member Provincial Assembly Sardar Atif Mazari, Member Board of Revenue Punjab Shomail Khawaja, DG  PDMA  Capt.(R) Muhammad Asif, DG Excise Balochistan government Muhammad Zaman and other senior officers were present on the occasion.

Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani told that after ten days, Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will visit Awaran and present a cheque of financial assistance received through the salaries of Assembly Members, government officers and other sources, to Chief Minister Balochistan Dr. Abdul Maalik. Replying to a question, Deputy Speaker said that there is resistance only one or two places in Awaran and expressed the hope that Balochistan government will soon overcome this problem. Appreciating the efforts of officers and jawans of Pak Army, he said that relief items are reaching the affectees through their better planning and Corps Commander is personally supervising this work in Awaran.

Sher Ali Gorchani appealed the Balochi brothers to come forward and cooperate with the government in helping the affected people, and if they are ready to initiate a dialogue their due demands would be accepted. In reply to a question regarding treatment of affectees, he said that Balochistan government did not make any demand but in case of its demand, the Punjab government would send ambulances, mobile hospital and team of doctors immediately. Replying to another question, Deputy Speaker assured that strict monitoring is being carried out of the relief items being dispatched from Punjab and in this connection, a 5-member team of assembly members under his supervision in Karachi and a team of assembly members Rahimyar Khan, are discharging their responsibilities effectively. However, he said that no question arises regarding misappropriation in relief items. Deputy Commissioner Lasbela Amir Aslam Tareen while briefing about the financial assistance of earthquake affectees said that the quality relief items received from Punjab are being supplied to the affectees continuously. He said that we have demanded another ten thousand tents keeping in view the winter season which Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani assured to provide without any delay.
