Primary & Secondary Health Department And PKLI Would Collaborate In Hepatitis Control Programme

Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department Punjab is launching infection control programme in the province and Pakistan Kidney & Liver Institute (PKLI) would extend cooperation in hepatitis control programme.
 
It was stated by the Advisor on Health Kh. Salman Rafique in a meeting with the Chairman PKLI Prof. Saeed Akhtar, here on Friday. Secretary Primary & Secondary Health Ali Jan Khan, Director General Health Punjab Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Syed, Prof. Wasim Akram,  office-bearers of PKLI and the concerned officers of P&SH Department also attended the meeting. Kh. Salman Rafique said that collective efforts and joint venture is essential to control the ever-increasing threat of hepatitis-C. He said that all the stakeholders should define their role in the hepatitis and infection control so that every institution execute its responsibilities according to the defined role. He further said that without implementing the disease prevention programme setting up of a healthy society is not possible.  He revealed that legislation would also be carried out for this purpose. Secretary Primary & Secondary Health Ali Jan Khan informed that the department has furnished revised PC-I for hepatitis control and infection control programmes separately. He said that during current fiscal year government would spend billions of rupees on both the programmes and special focus would be given on prevention side. Chairman PKLI Prof. Saeed Akhtar told that PKLI would start hepatitis clinic by December 2016 at its site office on Badian Road. He said that this clinic would help collecting database of hepatitis B & C patients.
