Coordinated Programme Being Implemented For Provision Of Quality Health Facilities To People Of The Province: Shehbaz Sharif

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting, here today which reviewed progress regarding provision of quality healthcare facilities to the people and reforms programme in Health Department. Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said that quality treatment facilities is right of common man which is being ensured by the government. He said that billions of rupees are being spent on provision of free medicines to the patients in government hospitals. The Chief Minister said that he will not tolerate wastage of resources and every penny of resources will be ensured for providing quality healthcare facilities to the masses. He said that a coordinated programme is being implemented for the provision of quality health facilities to the people of the province. Work has been started on a phase wise programme for provision of best medical facilities to the people in district & tehsil headquarters hospitals, he added. He said that task of provision of quality healthcare facilities in all district and tehsil headquarters hospitals will be completed during two years. Shehbaz Sharif said that work of provision of quality healthcare facilities in 40 district & tehsil headquarters hospitals will be completed during current fiscal year. The Chief Minister said that cleanliness and other services are being outsourced and added that equipments and machinery for diagnostic tests in the hospitals should be outsourced. He said that system of procurement of medicines, distribution to hospitals and free provision to patients is being set on modern lines. He said that misappropriation in free provision of medicines will not be tolerated at any cost. Shehbaz Sharif directed that immediate arrangements should be made for the training abroad of new staff appointed in Drug Testing Lab. He said that he will personally review health reforms programme and other projects regularly. Secretary Primary & Secondary Health while giving a briefing regarding health reforms programme told that cleanliness and other services have been outsourced in five district headquarters hospitals of the province. Advisor on Health Kh. Salman Rafique, Parliamentary Secretary Kh. Imran Nazir, Kh. Ahmed Hasaan, Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education, Chairman Task Force on Information & Culture and concerned officials attended the meeting.
