Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department has decided to upgrade the teaching hospitals of northern Lahore under which missing facilities, specialists doctors and medical equipment and machinery would be provided in the said hospitals.
It was informed in a meeting chaired by the Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof. Faisal Masood at KEMU Committee Room, here on Saturday. Besides, Special Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Punjab Dr. Sajid Mehmood Chouhan, Pro-vice chancellor KEMU Prof. Qazi Saeed, Deputy Secretary Budget & Accounts, Health Department Sarfraz Ahmad, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti, Medical Superintendent government Nawaz Sharief Hospital Yakki Gate Dr. Asim Hameed, MS Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital Dr. Ghulam Shabbir, MS Govt Said Mitha hospital Dr. Rahat AliKhan and other concerned officers attended the meeting. Prof. Faisal Masood informed that East Medical Ward of Mayo hospital has been attached with Kot Khawaja Saeed hospital and now the professors of KEMU/Mayo hospital will trained PGRs deputed in the Kot Khawaja Saeed hospital. He said that KEMU would also offered Diploma Course in Anesthesia and will trained the doctors of the said hospitals to overcome the needs of anesthetists, the meeting discussed on the proposals of construction of doctors’ hostel, setting up of Cardiac Unit in Kot Khawaja Saeed hospital, provision of biomedical equipment, establishment of Nursing School, extension of government Said Mitha hospital, posting of specialists doctors and installation of water filtration plant. The meeting discussed different proposals and options in this regard.
Special Secretary SH&ME Dr. Sajid Mehmood Chauhan directed that a comprehensive working plan should be prepared keeping in view the needs of the people of that area, trend of patients and availability of trained Human Resource. He said that complete home work also be done by following the service rules and things should be prioritized for the current as well as for the next fiscal year. He directed the medical superintendents of the hospitals to present their recommendations after Eid holidays. Dr. sajid Chauhan further said that steps would be taken to provide doctors/specialists according to the yardstick so that best medical cover could be provided the local population at their door steps.
