Warning Issues Over Use Of Bogus And Non-approved Number Plates

As many as 20 thousands warning letters have been issued to 20 thousand vehicle owners while two lakh 80 thousand warning alerts have been issued in Lahore over use of bogus and non-approved number plates. A crackdown has been launched against vehicle owners using illegal and non-approved number plates in Lahore city, after GOR, with the mutual collaboration between Special Monitoring Unit, City Traffic Police and Excise & Taxation department and warning letters and SMS warning alerts have been issued in the first phase. Special IT units are also been set up in different areas of the city for vehicles having fake and non-approved number plates. Senior Member Special Monitoring Unit Salman Sufi further informed that in view of security of citizens and instructions of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, legal action will be taken against those using illegal and non-approved number plates and after deadline of October 30 such vehicles will be impounded and released only after issuance of official and original number plates. Felicitation center set up by ET will issue one thousand number plates daily.
