Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said that scholarships are being given to the brilliant students from low income background under Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF). According to the vision of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif outstanding students from Baluchistan, KPK, Sindh, AJK, Gilgit Baltistan and FATA are also getting educational scholarships through PEEF.
Forman Christian College, hosted a recognition ceremony for the Punjab Education Endowment Fund to acknowledge the monetary support provided by PEEF to FCCU’s students. Since the inception of this programme, PEEF has awarded more than Rs.40 million in scholarships to approximately 300 FCCU students.
Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan was the chief guest at the event held on FCCU’s campus. Rana Mashhood addressed the event by sharing the aim and focus of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to educate people of Pakistan through merit based scholarships awarded through a transparent process. He said that PEEF is a strong support for deserving students as the Punjab believes the youth of today are the future of Pakistan. He gave examples of bright students who have received PEEF scholarships are now successfully employed across Pakistan. He concluded by encouraging students to work hard with the assurance of the Punjab Government’s support.
PEEF CEO Dr. Kamran Shams, PEEF Vice Chairman Dr. Amjad Saqib, FCCU Vice Rector Dr. Joseph Jones, Registrar Dr. Hamid Saeed, members of the faculty, staff and students were also present at the occasion.
Later, Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed stated that Education UK Exhibition is an excellent opportunity for Pakistani students to get direct information about higher education at UK institutions. He expressed these views on the occasion of Education UK exhibition. He expressed hope that this exhibition will not only be beneficial to Pakistani students but will also create linkage between UK and Pakistan. There was a representation of more than 20 leading universities from the UK in the exhibition.
