Fair Was Arranged For Destitute Children On International Child Rights Day

A colourful fair was arranged for destitute children residing in Social Welfare Complex, Gehwara, Nashaman and Dar-ul-Falah at Social Welfare Complex on International Child Rights Day under the aegis of Punjab Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Mall Department. Director General Social Welfare Waheed Ansari, senior members of Social Welfare Advisory Committee besides people of the area and a large number of children were present on the occasion. Besides swings, stalls of edible items and toys were set up for children on this occasion where free items were distributed among the residents of the complex. Handicrafts and beautiful items made by the women of Dar-ul-Falah and Dar-ul-Sakoon as well as children under training at Nashaman and Social Welfare centres were placed for sale in the stalls. Women of the area evinced keen interest in handicrafts. The children of the complex entertained the participants through tableaus, dramas, national songs, puppet and magic shows. DG Social Welfare and Members of Advisory Committee took a round of all the institutions of the complex. They held special meetings with the women and men facing mental stress residing at Afiyat and Dar-ul-Sakoon and asked questions about the arrangements of the complex and expressed satisfaction. They also talked to children of the complex and appreciated their curricular and extracurricular activities. DG Social Welfare said that we will have to make investment on children for bright future of Pakistan. He said that government, policy makers and all sections of the society especially parents and teachers will have to perform their responsibilities more actively for making tomorrow better than today. He said that Social Welfare Department is performing its responsibilities honestly and active for training and education as well as look after of poor and destitute children of the province. NGOs are also playing their active role in this regard, he added.
