A spokesman of Punjab Residency Programme Committee for postgraduate induction has said that consultation were made with all stakeholders including vice chancellors of medical universities, principals of medical colleges, representatives of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, intellectuals and columnists while meetings were also held with representatives of YDA after which the formula of one PG doctor for 3-bed instead of 10-bed was formulated. Similarly, the committee also recommended one paid maternity leave for lady doctors. The spokesman regretted that a group of young doctors is misleading doctors’ community and creating hurdles in the provision of healthcare.
The spokesman further said that PRP committee has also made six months’ rotation of PG doctors at district headquarters hospitals conditional to availability of consultant, proper facilities and incentives. Moreover, duty hours have also been limited to 56 hours a week as per the rules of Pakistan Medical & Dental Council. Similarly, candidates can apply for separate hospitals for PG-ship as it would not affect merit. This decision has been made for facilitating the candidates. The spokesman PRP Committee made it clear that merit and transparency will be upheld and the situation is being clarified so that no one could mislead doctor’s community.
