As a result of the continuous efforts made by the Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab, an Australia based Pakistani widow and her orphan child have got possession of their 10 Kanal ancestral land which was previously occupied by the brother of her late husband illegally.
Vice Chairperson OPC Shaheen Khalid Butt, while giving details in this regard, informed that an Adelaide based Australian Citizen, Hadia Kamran, contacted the OPC with a complaint that after the death of her husband in 2000, their inherited residential, commercial and agricultural land, worth crores of rupees, was grabbed by the elder brother of her late husband in Kamalia, District Toba Tek Singh. The accused continued to occupy the land and collected rent for the last 16 years and never gave a single penny to the rightful owners. OPC, after filing the complaint, vigorously pursued the issue with District Overseas Committee and after consistent efforts, succeeded in retrieving the possession to Hadia Kamran and her orphan child.
Vice Chairperson Shaheen Khalid Butt further told that OPC is playing a pivotal role in resolving the issues faced by Overseas Pakistanis and expats can contact to this office for redressal of their complaints pertaining to government agencies of the Punjab province.
