Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that legal action will be taken against those disgracing the sanctity of medical profession, trying to insult the teachers and creating hurdles in the treatment of patients. He said that majority of young doctors believes in service to ailing humanity but some doctors want to run the system according to their own will which is impossible.
He expressed these views while addressing a joint meeting of principals of all medical colleges and medical superintendents of specialized institutions and teaching hospitals at Civil Secretariat, today. The Minister said that Punjab Residency Programme for postgraduate has been introduced for the improvement of medical sector and preparation of high standard doctors so that culture of “safarish” could be eliminated and talented doctors get an opportunity of specialization transparently especially on merit without any safarish. Kh. Salman Rafique directed all principals and medical superintendents to take action through disciplinary committee of colleges against those involved in lawlessness, creating hurdles in the treatment of patients, insulting or threatening senior doctors and teachers and steps be taken against them as per law.
