PKLI held its 13th Steering Committee Meeting on 30th December 2016 at the PKLI Headquarters. Khawaja Salman Rafique, Minister Health Punjab, along with Dr. Saeed Akhter, President PKLI chaired the meeting. Representatives from the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab (IDAP), LESCO, Wapda and PKLI construction contractors Myoyong were present during the meeting. Recognizing the immense importance of the project as big as PKLI, Khawaja Salman Rafique said that any relaxation in terms of meeting deadlines and ensuring utmost quality will not be tolerated. Dr. Saeed Akhter while inquiring about the progress of various jobs being carried out at the PKLI site, specifically discussed the plans for the various packages of PKLI construction and medical equipment. IDAP reiterated that the equipment will be of the highest quality as the responsibility has been given to renowned companies like General Electric. Dr. SaeedAkhter and Khawaja Salman Rafique advised the contractors to present pictorial details of the various aspects of the project in the next meeting. The members then discussed the completion of the PKLI Hepatitis Prevention and Treatment Clinic (HPTC) that is scheduled to be launched in January 2017. The objective of the clinic is to completely eliminate the menace of Hepatitis from Pakistan and ultimately achieve a Hepatitis Free Pakistan by 2025. Dr. Saeed and Khawaja Salman Rafique appreciated the seriousness of efforts being put by all the team members. Follow up meetings were planned for the coming weeks.
