Cabinet Committee On Health Sector Reforms Meets

Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique presided over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Health Sector Reforms at Civil Secretariat Committee Room on Wednesday.  Various important matters of both the Health Departments came under discussion during the meeting. Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Professor Faisal Masoud presented recommendations for starting Clinical Pharmacy Care & sterile Preparations Programme. The meeting also discussed the policy of sanctioning Extra Ordinary Leave (EOL) to the MOs/WMOs selected by Punjab Public Service Commission(PPSC). The Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare presented plan for Revamping of Chief Drug Controller Office and Restructuring of Drug Wing. The meeting decided to give special pay package for doctors recruiting on contract basis for remote areas health facilities and condition of age limit for posting of these doctors would also be not fixed.  Retired doctors from the health department can also apply to fill vacant posts in the hospitals of remote and far flung areas.  The meeting also decided to grant special incentive to the Drug Inspectors under restructuring of Drug wing to improve their working and encouraging them to play effective role for curbing the menace of spurious and sub standard drugs. Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmad Shah informed that government is paying approximately 70000 rupees per month to the PG trainee doctors and all slots of PGRs have been made paid slots. Besides, Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir, Addl, Chief Secretary Shamayel Ahmad Khawaja, Secretary Population Welfare, DG PITB, Officers from P&D, Finance, Regulations and Health Departments also attended the meeting.
