Punjab Assembly has delegated the powers of Union Council President-ship to Vice Chairmen through legal amendment. Spokesman Punjab government has told that provincial assembly has increased the powers of Vice Chairmen Union Councils throughout the province through legal amendment. Vice Chairmen will be authorized to preside union councils and perform as speaker in the house of union council. Vice Chairmen will preside the meeting and all the activities of the house of the union council. Preparation and approval of budget of union council and affairs of other ongoing expenditure will be presented for approval of union council by Vice Chairman. After approval, maintaining the record of expenditure will also be the responsibility of Vice Chairman. Besides presiding budget session, Vice Chairmen will play other key role. It is worth mentioning that local government has issued directions to local bodies to get their budget approved from the house.
