World Bank Calls On Minister Labor and Human Resource

Representatives of World Bank called on Provincial Minister for Labour & Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar. Representatives named Yoonyoung Cho, senior economist, Sohail Saeed, Senior Social Protection Specialist were present in the meeting. Secretary Labour and Commissioner PESSI were also present on this occasion. Detailed and healthy discussion was carried out on social protection programme. Different skilled and employment models were also discussed and their implementation in the social sector of Pakistan in such a way to incur maximum desired results. World Bank has shown keen interest to work in collaboration with the Punjab government. Representatives of World Bank appreciated the steps and efforts being carried out by the Labour Department for the welfare of labourers.

The Minister Labour has focused one window operation especially for the labourers going abroad so that the maximum hurdles could be plugged out which they face during the process. He further said that the Labour Department is fully committed to deliver services at the doorstep of the labourers, In this regard he requested the World Bank delegation to visit Social Security Hospitals and Social Security Schools anytime and anywhere without any intimation. These surprised visits will help them to evaluate the true working of Labour Department and this will truly reflect the picture of Labour Department. Furthermore, he thanked the delegation for their cooperation and extended his full cooperation for the welfare of labourers.
