The Punjab AIDS Control Program is providing free Hep B and C screening, testing and Hep B vaccination to staff and school children of all Daanish Schools of Punjab and the ongoing campaign will be complete by the end of March, said Additional Secretary (admin) Primary and Secondary Healthcare Dept. Dr. Adnan Zafar here on Friday.
“On a request from Danish School Authority, we started a comprehensive Hep B and C screening, testing and Hep B vaccination campaign for all staff and student of Daanish Schools from the second week of February,” said Dr. Adnan Zafar, who is also Program Director PACP, while chairing the progress review meeting of the ongoing campaign for all Daanish Schools.
Dr. Adnan Zafar further added, “More than 8000 children and around 2300 staff members are being provided the services. The campaign is going as per plan and the ongoing campaign will be complete by the end of the current month. The campaign is being conducted in Fazilpur (Rajanpur), Dera Ghazi Khan, Hasilpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Mianwali, Chishtian and Attock.”
The PACP is also providing free Hep B vaccination as well as Hep C treatment to major high risk groups like truck and bus drivers, trans genders as well as vulnerable and marginalized groups. The Program provides free treatment and counseling services to all HIV/AIDS patients across Punjab, and provides hepatitis B vaccination and treatment to HIV/AIDS patients.
The program has also developed close synergy with other vertical programs and is implementing a comprehensive plan for prevention and awareness. The Govt. of the Punjab has established Daanish Schools with a vision to educate the gifted children of underprivileged families and is providing them state-of-the-art facilities in these schools.
