Punjab Minister For Primary & Secondary Health Visits Five Hospitals In A Day

Punjab Minister for Primary & Secondary Health Kh. Imran Nazir along with Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan paid surprised visits to different hospitals including District Headquarters Hospital Khanewal and Tehsil Headquarters Hospitals of Shorkot, Kabirwala and Mianchannu. The Minister and Secretary inspected emergency, indoor wards, pharmacy and other departments of the hospitals. Kh. Imran Nazir reviewed the cleanliness and hygienic conditions in the hospitals. During the visit of THQ Shorkot, the Minister displeased with the MS who failed to keep good hygienic condition. The Minister found medicines in the pharmacy without defaced. The Minister took serious note of the situation and suspended the storekeeper Haq Nawaz on his negligence. During the visits of the hospitals, the Minister found same complaint of not defacing the medicines of the pharmacy and local purchase item. The Minister said that keeping the medicines without defacing means that the doors of pilferage of medicines are open. He directed the Secretary Health to conduct audit of medicines stock of the said hospitals. He said that no negligence in the duty and misappropriation would be tolerated. He also issued warning to the Medical Superintendent on poor cleanliness conditions. During the visit of DHQ Khanewal, defacing of drugs at peadiatric nursery ward was not found, sanitation of incubators was also not maintained. The Minister shown his displeasure and warned the MS to remain careful in future. Kh. Imran Nazir also visited THQ Hospital Mianchannu. Kh. Imran Nazir directed the Secretary to circulate his instructions to all Medical Superintendents of DHQ/THQ hospitals in Punjab that no discrepancy will be spared regarding defacing of drugs and stretcher barrier at every emergency ward in the best interest of the patients. Later, Punjab Minister for Primary & Secretary Health also visited DHQ Hospital Jhang and was astonished to see that the complaints pointed out in his previous visit in December 2016 were remained unresolved. The Minister expressed indignation to the MS and gave two weeks time for improving performance of the hospital. Kh. Imran Nazir said that after two weeks he will again visit the hospital and if the things were not improved action will be taken against the MS. Kh. Imran Nazir said that Chief Minister Punjab is providing billions of rupees for the up-gradation/revamping of the hospitals and provision of free diagnostic and treatment facilities to the patients. He directed that the officers should get rid of traditional attitude and execute their responsibilities proactively for the welfare of the patients. He directed that record of the pharmacies should be computerized and medicines lying in the stores and local purchase items must be defaced before issuing to the end users.
