Provincial Minister for Finance Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha presided over a meeting at Civil Secretariat, here today which was attended by Provincial Minister for Industry Sheikh Allauddin, Chairman China Pakistan Institute, former Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, Executive Director Mustafa Haider Syed, Chairman TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Secretary Industries Mujtaba Piracha, Commissioner Lahore Abdullah Sumbal, IG Punjab Capt. (R) Usman Khatak, DIG Faisal Rana, Advisor Infrastructure CPEC Dr. Zahid Shah, DG Punjab IT Board Sajid Latif, Director Punjab Board of Investment Sohail Qadri and Vice Chairman Chief Minister’s Taskforce Uswa Aftab. The aim of the meeting was planning and entrusting responsibilities of 2-day Pak-China Economic Corridor conference to be held with the collaboration of Pak-China Institute and Punjab government in August. Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha informed the meeting that for successful holding of the conference in Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister has constituted a committee headed by Finance Minister, Minister Industries and Chief Secretary Punjab comprising other members including Additional Chief Secretary Home, IG Punjab, Chairman P&D, Secretary Industry, Secretary Energy, Secretary Information & Culture, Commissioner Lahore, CCPO Lahore, Chief Executive Officer Punjab Board of Investment &Trade, Chairman TEVTA and Chairman Chief Minister’s Taskforce. Mushahid Ullah Syed informed the meeting about the aims and objectives of the conference and highlighted trade and culture aspects of CPEC. Minister Industries stressed upon the need of promotion of local industry and increase in exports. He said it is necessary that we should create maximum opportunities for local manufacturers and ensure enforcement of negative list for import to achieve positive results of Pak-China Economic Corridor Seminar. Executive Director Pak-China Institute Mustafa Haider told the meeting that his institution will perform the duty of contact with Chinese companies and investors participating in the conference and play its role for promotion of local industry. Finance Minister directed Chairman TEVTA Irfan Qaiser to contact all presidents of chambers of commerce in Pakistan and evolve a strategy in the light of the proposals. She constituted four sub-committees headed by Secretary Industry Mujtaba Paracha, IG Punjab, Chairman Chief Minister’s Taskforce Abdul Maalik and Chairman TEVTA for the preparation of contents of brochures for making the arrangements of the conference foolproof, protocol, publicity and contact with investors and directed them to submit their reports along with budget estimate in the next meeting to be held on June 30 and ensure holding of conference on August 11.
