Government of Punjab is going to introduce an Additional DPT vaccine dose for children between 4- 5 years of age from Jan-2018 in EPI program for this extra 445 Million rupees will be spent. It was told during a review meeting about the Diphtheria situation in the province chaired by Director General Health services Punjab Doctor Akhtar Rasheed Malik. DG Health told that Primary and Secondary Health will launch the booster doze of DPT Vaccine in January 2018 and Punjab will stood first which introduce DPT Vaccine in Pakistan .DG Health Punjab told that this vaccine will boost immunity against Diphtheria, Pertussis & Tetanus . Director EPI Doctor Munir and other officers of EPI program attended the meeting. Doctor Munir told the participants that this year nine labs confirmed cases are reported in the province andprobable Diphtheria cases are being monitored on daily basis. He further told that sufficient stock of Anti-Diphtheria Serum is available in province.
