Khawaja Imran Nazir Inaugurated Screening Camp for Special Children in Lahore

Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir has said that Punjab government is setting up screening camps for special children in 276 schools across the province in which blood test and screening of more than 31,000 children would be carried out and so far 24,500 special children have been screed. The Minister said that first time in the history of Pakistan, integrated screening camps have been established which produces positive results. He said that special children deserves special attention not only from their parents but also from Government as well. Khawaja Imran Nazir said that Department has devised teams of Special doctors and staff for these camps, these teams are working in phases in all districts. He said that screening process has been completed in 13 out of 19 Special children’s schools of Lahore, in which 1968 children have been screened till to date and the screening of the special children in remaining schools would be completed according to the schedule.

Khawaja Imran Nazir stated this while inaugurated the screening camp for special children in Government Central High School for Deaf Gulberg, here today. Additional Secretary Health Dr. Asim Altaf, Deputy Secretary Dr. Yadullah, CEO Health, Lahore Dr. Shahnaz Naseem, DO Special Education Shahzad Haroon Bhutta and Director Sports Special Education Syed Kazim Shah were present. On this occasion, the Provincial Minister said that in the last one and half years, not only workers, Paramedical and janitorial staff of health department but also Punjab Police officials and Prisoners have been screened. Similarly, in 36 districts of Punjab, more than 1.5 million people have been screened. Khawaja Imran Nazir appealed to the parents of special children to take maximum benefit from these camps. He said that vaccination of hepatitis and other diseases are also being provided in these campuses, and if a child's test is Positive, he will be provided free medicine and treatment. Minister said Punjab government has taken various steps for the welfare of special children. Earlier, Provincial Minister visited medical camp and examined the Process of check-up.
