Punjab, being the host of highest industrial footprint and largest population base in the country, is also the biggest consumer market for energy. With rapid expansion of the urban infrastructure and enhanced living standards, resulting in use of more electrical appliances, Punjab faces a growing un-met demand of energy which offers an opportunity for investments in power generation projects based on various indigenous sources.

With rapid expansion of the urban infrastructure and enhanced living standards, resulting in use of more electrical appliances, Punjab faces a growing un-met demand of energy which offers an opportunity for investments in power generation projects based on various indigenous sources.
Government of the Punjab has developed an enabling Punjab Power Generation Policy to facilitate private sector investment in this vital sector. In order to minimize the carbon footprint and environmental impact; while maintaining the trajectory of industrial growth, a robust Renewable Energy Policy 2019 (Federal) has been introduced to promote the green energy culture. Moreover, the limitations of the national distribution grid also encourage the deployment of off-grid solutions which entail usage of small PV solar plants, small hydel project in run-of-river/canal mode and energy from bio fuel.
