Deceased Transportation Service

The Government of Punjab has launched a first-of-its-kind Deceased Transportation Service to ensure the dignified and free transfer of deceased individuals from government hospitals to their homes. Introduced under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the initiative addresses a critical gap in public service delivery by relieving bereaved families from the financial and logistical burden often associated with private transport arrangements.

In its initial phase, the service is operational in Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi, where dedicated vehicles are deployed to provide timely and respectful transportation without any cost to the public. The service is accessible through the emergency helpline 1122, with dedicated facilitation desks established in government hospitals to streamline the process. Trained drivers and staff are available round the clock to ensure professional handling and compassionate support for grieving families.

The initiative is being managed through a smart rescue management and dispatch system, enabling efficient coordination and monitoring of services. Additionally, the service also facilitates the transfer of bodies to hospital morgues where required, further strengthening its operational scope. The Government has planned a phased expansion of the service across all districts and tehsils of Punjab by June, with the provision of dedicated ambulances in each tehsil.
