  • Identification, preparation and implementation of projects approved by competent authorities
  • Implementation of agricultural laws
  • Ensuring availability and quality of agriculture inputs
  • Management of agriculture extension farms and gardens
  • Service matters relating to the District cadre

  • Participation along with requisite data in review meetings held by Provincial Agriculture Department

Livestock

  • Artificial insemination
  • Promotional efforts for establishment for Dairy Farms in private sectors
  • Promotional efforts for establishment of poultry farms in private sectors
  • Prevention of animal / poultry diseases, extension services
  • Training of villagers on:
    • Prophylactic vaccination
    • Management aspects.
    • First aid treatment.
  • Enforcement of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1890
  • Prophylactic Vaccination
  • Service matter within the district as per delegation of powers

  • Any other business assigned by the Government

Farm Water Management

  • Organization and registration of Water Users Association under the On-Farms Water Management and Users Association Ordinance, 1981 for promotion of watercourse improvement and other water management activities in the district
  • Preparation and implementation of water management development plans in the district
  • Watercourse improvement precision land leveling, irrigation agronomy practices, groundwater management and harvesting of water resources in Barani / Rainfed areas
  • Renting out agricultural machinery at approved rates
  • Service matters relating to the district cadre
  • Maintenance of government buildings
  • Purchase of stores and capital goods
  • Feedback to Provincial Agriculture Department on all the above mentioned business, as per time to time instruction

Soil Conservation

  • Conducting survey and preparing water harvesting schemes to control soil and water erosion
  • Construction of water disposal outlets and pacca structures to allow controlled water run-off.  Construction of check dams, water ponds and mini dams for conservation of soil and water
  • Adoption and execution of agronomic and soil conservation measures for reclamation of eroded land
  • Controlling soil erosion through aforestation and range management
  • Provision of advisory service regarding soil conservation and water harvesting
  • Service matters relating to the district cadre

Fisheries

  • Extension services in private sector
  • Lease of fishing rights, construction, management and promotion of promotion of fisheries in water areas except rivers, canals and barrages/pond areas which have no boundaries

  • Issuance of district angling licenses
  • Local publicity and awareness
  • Enforcement of fisheries enactment in their in their respective domains
  • Fish stock replenishment in natural water bodies in their respective domains
  • Supervision of seed production, distribution and supply program at all seed production units/hathceries in their respective domains
  • Aquaculture development activities
  • Collection of statistical data on fish and fisheries in their respective domains

Forestry

  • Raising new forests and scientific management of existing public forests to maximize the production of wood and minor forest produce in the irrigated plantations having area upto 2000 acres
  • Raising and promotion of roadside plantations of local/ district significances
  • Promotion of social/ farm forestry in private lands
  • Raising of Forest Nurseries
  • Establishment of amenity forests and recreational parks
  • Education of the public for tree planting and provisions of technical and advisory servises on matters of afforestation to the people and other departments in the district
  • Service matters except those entrusted to the provincial government
  • Refer all major technical issues for advice of the provincial government
  • Formulate working plans after approval of preliminary working plans from provincial government (CCF concerned of the area) and get it technically cleared/ approved from the provincial government before being sanctioned by the district government
  • Submit annual report on tree cover monitoring to provincial government for review and incorporation into provincial report
