Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department Punjab has sought proposals/recommendations from the Medical Superintendents of Tertiary Care Hospitals and Specialized Healthcare Institutions to prepare uniform terms of references (TORs) for outsourcing Janitorial services in the said institutions.
In this connection, a high level meeting headed by Special Secretary Health Dr. Sajid Mahmood Chauhan held in the committee room of Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department, at Civil Secretariat today. Besides, Principals Institute of Ophthalmology, King Edward Medical University Prof. Dr. Asad Aslam Khan, Additional Secretary (Development) Zaheed Abbas Malik, MS Mayo Hospital Dr. Amjad Shehzad, MS Services Hospital Dr. Salah ud Din, MS LGH Dr. Capt. Muhammad Niaz, MS Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Dr. Nauman Matloob, MS Jinnah Hospital Dr. Shafqat Ali, MS Govt. Shahdra Teaching Hospital Dr. Muhammad Ameer and other officers attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Special Secretary Health Dr. Sajid Chauhan said that no compromise would be made on the standards of cleanliness in the hospitals. He directed that cleanliness should be visible in the hospitals wards, corridors, toilets and other places and for this purpose janitorial services should be outsourced. He said that in some hospitals this system is existing partially however, there would be uniform policy to outsource the janitorial services for which standardized TORs are being prepared. He asked the Medical Superintendents to come up with the proposals for this purpose, keeping in view their experience and the needs of the hospitals and submit their recommendations to the department within two days to expedite the work in this regard.
