Provincial Zakat Council has given approval to release of Rs.4 crore as scholarship for 7605 deserving students of colleges, universities and seminaries.
This was decided in 162nd meeting of Provincial Zakat Council headed by Chairman Justice (R) Akhtar Hassan in his office, here today. Secretary Zakat & Ushr Habib-ur-Rehman Gillani, Administrator Zakat Muhammad Yusuf Butt, Deputy Administrator Zakat (Field) Rana Muhammad Sajjad Babar, Members of the council Muhammad Azhar Faroqi, Saeed Ahmad Ansari, Mohtarma Tanvir Kausar, Deputy Secretary Saeeda Malaika and representatives of Secretary Local Government & Community Development, Finance and Social Welfare were also present on this occasion.
Provincial Zakat Council approved Rs.2 crore 34 lakh 840 for 4206 students studying in 155 educational institutions of 12 districts of the province whereas Rs.1 crore 64 lakh 33 thousand 114 have been approved for 3399 deserving students of 49 seminaries of eight districts of the province. Chairman Provincial Zakat Council directed high ranking officers of Zakat & Ushr Department to ensure immediate release of said amount and make special arrangements for early release of these scholarships to the deserving students.
