Begum Zakia Shahnawaz Participates In Awareness Walk For Controlling Population

Provincial Minister for Population Welfare & Environment Protection Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that mother-child healthcare is of great importance, therefore, interval in the birth of child is essential so that a healthy nation could play its due role in the development and prosperity of the country. She said that necessary information and facilities are being provided to the people with regard to mother and child healthcare at provincial, tehsil and district level through awareness campaign being launched under population welfare programme. She said that in order to control the increasing population, Population Welfare Department is discharging its responsibilities under a suitable strategy in rural and urban areas for achieving the desired results.

She expressed these views while participating in the awareness walk regarding family planning from Liberty Chowk to Hussain Chowk arranged by Population Welfare Department, here today. The Provincial Minister said that the staff posted at family health centers and family health clinics are informing the people about the mother-child health, family and economic problems keeping in view the problems of present age. She said that Population Welfare Department is playing an important role in promoting progressive approach in the society through counseling about family planning for eradication of these problems.  She said that the department is also ensuring participation of men in population welfare programmes.

Begum Zakia Shahnawaz said that awareness is being created among the people through awareness campaign regarding family planning. She said that increasing population is a big problem of our country and the secret of resolution of problems like food, cloth, residential and lack of other necessities lies in family planning. She said that the positive response of the people about the governmental efforts for overcoming increasing population is the result of the vigorous efforts of Population Welfare Department. Representatives of civil society, students and a large number of men and women participated the walk.
