Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that counseling of parents with regard to family planning and healthy life at the time of delivery is being made.
She said this while talking to representatives of civil society at her office, here today. The Provincial Minister said that besides the slogan of “two children—prosperous family”, importance to the health of mother & child will have to be given for constituting a healthy society. She said that the ulema should inform the people about the problems of increasing population as Islam does not favour the society based on ignorance and poverty.
Begum Zakia Shahnawaz stressed the need of telling the parents that it is difficult to provide best food, education and training to their children during this pricehike. She said that it is collective responsibility of the society to take care of mother and child. She said that government encourages those NGOs who are doing excellent work in this regard which is a source of positive mental change among the people.
The Provincial Minister said that all concerned departments have to utilize resources properly for overcoming increasing population. She said that there is no dearth of commitment, hard work and ability but there is a need of complete implementation. She said that resolving problems of increasing population on war footing is need of the hour. She said that the ongoing campaign about population welfare is being further improved so that the work of public welfare could be carried out.
