Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Kh. Salman Rafiq has said that government is paying special attention to the improvement of primary and secondary healthcare. He said that the performance of district, tehsil hospitals and basic and rural health centres has improved considerably due to implementation of Chief Minister Health Roadmap programme. He said that the performance of the hospitals is being monitored closely. He stressed the need of further hard work for filling Gaps.
He said this while presiding over monthly meeting of EDOs Health of all districts at Civil Secretariat, today. Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat Gondal especially attended the meeting. Secretary Health Jawad Rafiq Malik, Special Secretary Primary & Secondary Health Dr. Sajid Chohan, DG Health Dr. Amjad Shehzad, EDOs of all districts, Health Managers and DCOs of all districts took part in the proceedings of the meetings through video link. Members of Chief Minister Health Roadmap team presented performance report about routine immunization courage cleanliness, availability of medicine and attendance of doctors at DHQ, THQ, Basic and Rural Health Centers. Chief Minister Health Roadmap team leader Izaz Akhtar inform about the situation at district level.
Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal issued special instructions to DCOs for further improving cleanliness situation in the hospitals. He said that the appointments of doctors at vacant posts of medical officers in district and tehsil headquarter hospitals should be made through Walk-in interviews and appointments letters should be given to the selected doctors at the time of interview. The meeting was told that the attendance of doctors and staff has improved substantially in district and tehsil headquarter hospital through biometric system and deliveries have also improved considerably at health centers.
Kh.Salman Rafique said that as a result of Chief Minister Health Roadmap programme and effective steps by DCOs and EDOs Health, all necessary medicines are available at DHQ, THQ and health centers. He directed that the availability of medicines and attendance of doctors should not only be maintained but it should further be improved. Kh. Salman Rafique said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will conduct stock taking regarding performance of EDOs Health and three districts each showing best performance and poor performance will be identified. All DCOs informed the meeting about the performance of hospitals and institutions of Health Department of their respective departments through video link and also replied to the questions raised by Kh. Salman Rafique and the Chief Secretary. The Chief Secretary directed all officers to take immediate decisions by utilizing their best administrative abilities for ensuring best medical facilities to the people.
