With a view to overcome the shortage of specialist doctors in government hospitals and to encourage medical officers for specialization Punjab Health Department has introduced new Post Graduate Admission Policy for FCPS according to which additional 20 numbers would be given to the medical officers at the time of admission having experience of two years service at Basic Health Units (BHUs). Similarly, 12 numbers for two years service at Rural Health Centers and 10 numbers would be given to the doctors having experience of two years service at District Headquarters and Tehsil Headquarters hospitals. In this regard, a meeting was held in the Health Department today to review the implementation on the new PGR admission policy. Additional Secretary (Technical) Dr. Salman Shahid, Deputy Secretary Medical Education Dr. Nasir Shakir and the team members of Chief Minister’s Health Roadmap, Ms. Emma Hannya, Jonny Barty and Ahmed Razzaq attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed implementation on the policy. Dr. Salman Shahid informed that all the Principals of Medical Colleges, Medical Superintendents of Teaching Hospitals and EDOs Health of all the districts and the other concerned officers have already been informed accordingly. He said that all the medical institutions have started implementation on new PGR admission policy. He said that new policy would encourage the young medical officers to get admission in any specialized medical field hence maximum doctors would get benefit from the new policy.
