The Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din has said that domestic workers are playing an important role in strengthening the economy and development of the country.
She said this while addressing certificates distribution ceremony among domestic workers who completed their training with the collaboration of ILO and Women Development Department Punjab at APWA Headquarters, here today. Chairperson APWA Mrs.Romi Syed, representative of ILO Hasan Rizvi, Mukhtar Awan and other were also present.
Hameeda Waheed ud Din said that the women completing their training under ILO Convention can earn their livelihood honourably. She said that the work on draft labour policy is continuing which will be given final shape after consultation with stakeholders. She said that initially basic domestic training is being provided to one thousand women in the skilled workers training course arranged by Women Development Department so that they could run their domestic affairs efficiently as well as earn their livelihood honorably. Later, the Provincial Minister distributed certificates among women who completed their training.
