Chief Relief Commissioner Punjab Nadeem Ashraf has said that administration will observe Independence Day in a befitting manner on 14th August along with flood affectees in relief camps set up in flood affected districts of the province. He said that Independence Day celebrations will start on August 11 and instructions have been issued to administration of all the districts.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting held regarding relief activities for flood affectees in flood-hit districts today. Chief Relief Commissioner said that Independence Day celebrations are being started on August 11 and national flags will be hoisted on rescue boats and relief camps. He said that school children will present tableaus, drama, luddi dance, national anthems, national songs and speeches while the Ministers, Secretaries and other officers will participate along with affectees on August 14. He said that sweets and gifts will be distributed among children while special dishes will be served to the elders. He said that funds of Rs. 530 million have been released to DCOs of flood affected districts for carrying out speedy relief activities. He said that process of survey of losses to the crops and houses has been started in flood affected areas and after which a third party audit will also be conducted. He said that government will continue relief activities for flood affectees till their rehabilitation.
