Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that Christian community has played a commendable role in the progress and stability of the country as well as development of education and health sectors. He said that services of the Christian community for the country are a proof of its patriotism.
In a message of felicitation to the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas, the Chief Minister said that all religions give the message of peace and brotherhood and the teachings of the Holy Christ lay special emphasis in this regard. He said that upholding of basic rights of minorities, protecting their life and property, granting them religious freedom and providing them equal opportunities of progress is the responsibility of the state and the Punjab government has evolved a solid and comprehensive strategy in this regard. Shehbaz Sharif further said that all minorities have equal rights in Pakistan and opportunities of progress are being provided to them without any discrimination. He said that Christian community is infused with the spirit of patriotism and working hard for the development and prosperity of Pakistan. The Chief Minister said that Pakistan Muslim League(N) government is taking all necessary measures for the progress and uplift of minorities including Christian community and protection of their due rights. He said that it is time to rise above narrow considerations and prejudices and make collective efforts for the progress, stability and survival of the country.
