Provincial Minister for Women Development, Hameeda Waheed ud Din has said that huge funds have been allocated in the current budget for the welfare and rehabilitation of disabled persons.
She was addressing a meeting of special committee set up for the welfare of the disabled in Punjab Assembly, here today. Representatives of Finance, Social Welfare, Women Development and Local Government Departments were also present. The meeting gave approval to the convener and the members of the committee. The Minister said that transparent utilization of the funds allocated for the welfare of disabled persons will be ensured and necessary facilities will be provided to them in all institutions and public places. She said that disabled persons are blessed with a number of abilities and talent but due to some physical disability they find it difficult to lead their life as normal citizens. Therefore, she said it is collective responsibility of the government and society to pay due attention to the welfare and rehabilitation of the disabled persons.
