21300 Quilts Distributed Among Flood Victims

On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, distribution of quilts has been started in flood affected districts under winter package and process of distribution of high quality quilts will be completed within two days under the supervision of Provincial Ministers and Members Assembly. Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority Ahmed Javed Qazi during a special meeting said that survey was conducted for distribution of quilts among poor flood affectees and committees comprising Ministers, Members Assembly and senior officers were constituted for this purpose. He told that special centers have been set up for the distribution of quilts in a transparent and coordinated manner in 16 districts of the province. He further said that distribution of financial assistance of Rs. 16 billion among flood affectees has been completed in the second phase. He said that high quality quilts have been distributed among 21300 poor affected families in 16 flood affected districts of the province while more quilts will be distributed on the second day. 

Provincial Ministers Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din, Asif Saeed Manhais, Waheed Arain, Malik Nadeem Kamran and Assembly Members while addressing the functions of quilt distribution said that Chief Minister takes personal interest in the rehabilitation of flood affectees and he has set an excellent example of service by round the clock monitoring rescue and relief operation of the affectees. Four hundred quilts were distributed among flood affectees in Wazirabad and Kamoki under the supervision of Member Provincial Assembly Nawaz Chohan and Flood Relief Commissioner Gujranwala while 3600 in Tehsil Hafizabad and Pindi Bhattian under the supervision of Member Assembly Mian Shahid Hussain Bhatti and MPA Asad Ullah Arain. The Assembly Members were informed that financial assistance of more than Rs. 61 crore has also been provided to flood affectees in two phases of Khadim Punjab Relief Package. Under the supervision of Special Assistant to Chief Minister Mansha Ullah Butt, Assembly Members Nawab Mazhar Khan, Haji Imran Zafar and Nawab Haider Mehdi, 1200 quilts were distributed among flood affectees. Mansha Ullah Butt while addressing on the occasion said that a huge amount of Rs. 11.93 crore has been distributed among flood affectees in district Gujrat. Member National Assembly Armghan Subhani distributed 900 quilts among flood affectees at Govt. High School Sialkot. Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed ud Din distributed 50 quilts among flood affectees in Syeda Sharif of district Mandi Bahudin while Assembly Members distributed 900 quilts in Narowal. 

Member National Assembly Nighat Mir, MPA Lal Hussain and district President PML(N) Jehlum Boota Javed distributed high quality quilts among 150 flood affectees at a function in DCO Office Jehlum while Member Provincial Assembly Nazar Muhammad Gondal distributed 450 quilts among flood affectees in Pind Dadan Khan. Provincial Minister Malik Muhammad Asif Bha distributed 850 quilts among flood affectees of Tehsil Khushab and Noorpur Thal in district Khushab. DCO Muzaffargarh Shokat Ali distributed 1000 quilts among the flood affectees of Alipur Jatoi and Muzaffargarh at Faisal Stadium Muzaffargarh. Provincial Minister for Zakat Malik Nadeem Kamran distributed 4400 quilts among poor flood affectees of Tehsil Jhang, Athara Hazari, Ahmedpur Sial and Shorkot at Govt. College for Women. Provincial Minister Asif Saeed Manhis distributed more than 2400 quilts among flood affectees of Tehsil Chiniot, Bhawana and Laliyan during a special function at TMA Hall Chiniot. Provincial Minister Abdul Waheed Arain distributed more than 5000 quilts among flood affected families during functions at Bagh Langey Khan, Sher Shah and Sports Complex rehabilitation centers while special ration packets were also provided.
