Provincial Minister for Home Col. (R) Shuja Khanzada has said that all arrangements for coping with possible flood should be completed on emergent basis. He said that due to best strategy and coordinated flood plan, rescue and relief activities can be made result-oriented during flood. He said that district administration, irrigation and other concerned departments should keep close liaison and complete the work of strengthening protective bunds at the earliest. He said this while inspecting Kot Kheera, Tehsil Athara Hazari and other protective bunds after briefing held at Trimu Head works during his visit to district Jhang. Divisional Commissioner Capt. (R) Naseem Nawaz, Director General Punjab Disaster Management Authority Ahmed Javed Qazi, DCO Jhang Nadar Chatha, officers of Irrigation, Health, Livestock and other departments were present on the occasion. The Home Minister inspected protective bunds and directed that encroachments should be removed immediately. He said that Chief Minister Punjab has assigned duties to provincial ministers for checking the steps for coping with possible flood in various districts so that precautionary measures could be taken on time.
District administration and Irrigation Department gave briefing to Home Minister regarding preparations for coping with likely flood. DCO Nadar Chatha told that four meetings have been held in this regard whereas Rescue 1122, mock exercise has been arranged with Rescue 1122 at Trimu Head Works. He said that the process of purchase of necessary equipments and machinery to be used during flood has been completed from the budget of district government. He told that the process of vaccination of small animals is continuing and the process of distribution of wanda will be started among livestock breeders. Divisional Commissioner told that a vigilant eye is being kept on flood situation under early warning system and all departments are ready to cope with any emergency situation. Chief Engineer Irrigation Multan Zone told that the capacity of Trimu Head Works is 645000 cusecs. He also informed the Minister about the action plan prepared for meeting medium and high flood at Trimu Head Works.
