Educational Funds for Minorities Hiked

Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindu has said that the special funds allocated for scholarships of students and welfare of minorities has increased 10 times to Rs. 50 crore. He said that scholarships of Rs. two crore are being distributed among talented minority male and female students. He said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has approved more funds of Rs. three crore which will be distributed among intelligent minority male and female students in second phase.
          
He expressed these views while addressing a function of distribution of cheques for 15 to 50 thousand rupees among talented minority male and female students at Circuit House Sargodha. MPA Faisal Farooq Cheema, DCO Saqib Manan, EDO Education Ch. Maqsood Akhtar, political personalities, members of minority community and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
          
Khalil Tahir Sindhu said that PML(N) government is implementing the merit policy so that equal opportunities of progress could be provided to every talented person. He said that terrorists have no religion, therefore, we should keep a watchful eye on them. He said that the role of minorities in the development of country cannot be forgotten. He said that missionary schools and hospitals are playing important role in providing educational and health facilities in Pakistan. He stressed upon students to pay full attention to their study and play their due role in the progress of the country. The Minister distributed scholarship cheques among the students.
          
Later Khalil Tahir Sindu reviewed the recruitment matters according to minority quota in government jobs in Sargodha University. University authorities assured the Minister that recruitment will be made according to minority quota under government policy. The Minister also visited Christian worship places in Sargodha city and assured minority community to resolving their problems on priority basis.
