Mill Owners will not be Allowed to Exploit Farmers: Minister Agriculture

Provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr Farrukh Javed has instructed the district administration and agriculture department to ensure the purchase of Maize from farmers on actual compatible prices. He instructed to break the cartel of mil owners who are trying to exploit the farmers by their monopoly in the market.
                   
Dr. Farrukh Javed has said that some manufacturers and mil owners are using their cartel to maintain least prices for maize in market and restricting competition. He said that this monopoly will be broken and farmers’ interest will be taken care of. Agriculture Minister instructed the market committee and district administration to ensure action against the culprits. He instructed the department's staff to turn to the market and perform their role in empowering farmers. He said that farmer’s loss for the benefit of a few individuals will not be tolerated. Agriculture Minister said that farmers should be rewarded for their hard work by any means. He said that department staff will work diligently to achieve this target and the monopoly of mil owners should be eliminated from the market. Dr. Farrukh Javed said that the farmers cannot store their produce for a long time and because of this fact mill owners exploit them. He instructed the agricultural Marketing and district administration to ensure purchase of maize on real prices. He directed the administration to act vigilantly to stop the exploitation of farmers. He said that it’s the duty of government to take care of farmers’ rights and we will ensure that at any cost. He said that famers are baring huge agriculture input costs and such exploitation will further burden them. Dr. Farrukh Javed said that no negligence in this regard will be tolerated.
