On the invitation of Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, two members delegation of Ministry of Health, Cuba arrived in the Provincial Metropolitan of Lahore. The delegation called on the Advisor to Chief Minister on Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique at Civil Secretariat here today. Secretary Health Punjab Jawwad Rafique Malik, Director General Health Dr. Zahid Pervez, Director Policy& strategic planning unit Ali Bahadar Qazi, Addl. Director general health Integrated Reproductive, Mother & Child Health Programme Dr. Ijaz Ahmad sheikh and health specialist Dr. Naeem ud Din Mian were also present in the meeting. Cuban delegation included Health Advisor Dr. De Aldo and Dr. Harnain.
The delegation apprised the Advisor Kh. Salman Rafique of the Primary Healthcare system of Cuba. Kh. Salman Rafique said that Cuban Healthcare system is a model of best healthcare system in the World. He said that Punjab government intended to make its healthcare delivery system more effective by removing deficiencies of the system for providing best medical facilities to the people and to promote prevention of diseases. He said that government is focusing on the strengthening of Primary Healthcare system to improve the routine immunization under EPI programme and to control maternal and infant mortality by proving best healthcare under MNCH programme. Kh. Salman Rafique further said that Cuba has improved its healthcare system tremendously therefore the health indicators of Cuba are admirable. He said that the recommendations of Cuban delegation for strengthening of Primary Healthcare of Punjab would be helpful for this purpose. Cuban delegation will meet the Chief Minister Punjab on Friday and exchange views on the Primary Healthcare system of Punjab.
