Bilal Yasin Reviews Revised Transport Fares

Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin has said that strict implementation should be made on new fares of transport so that the benefits of reduction in petroleum prices could be provided to the people. He directed that flexes of new fares should be displayed prominently on all bus stands and strict action should be taken against those overcharging in small districts.
                        
He said this while presiding over a meeting to review implementation on new transport fares at Committee Room of Civil Secretariat, today. Members Assembly Mian Rafi Rajwara, Muhammad Sarwar, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretaries of Transport, Industry, Livestock, Food and Information departments, Director Special Branch as well as all Commissioners were online through video link.Secretary Transport informed the meeting that on November 9, during the checking of 585 bus stands, fare lists of 11963 vehicles were checked, of which, 3075 buses had overcharged, upon which a fine of Rs. 14.47 lakh was imposed and permits of 114 vehicles were suspended. Similarly, Commissioner Rawalpindi told that immediate strict action was taken against 42 vehicles on overcharging.
                        
Bilal Yasin said that after the reduction in the prices of petroleum products, Punjab government took lead on taking emergent steps for implementation of new prices which aimed at providing relief to the common man and eliminating profiteering. He directed all commissioners and DCOs to ensure implementation on the policy evolved for reduction in prices by the government and vigilance process should be improved. He said that checking squads should discharge their responsibilities efficiently. Provincial Minister said that the government wants to provide benefits of reduction in prices of petrol. He said that implementation on the new prices will also ensure decrease in prices of essential items.
