New Projects to Uplift Healthcare in Province

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that uplift of education sector and provision of quality health facilities to the masses is the priority of the government and solid measures have been taken for this purpose. He said that Punjab Health Reforms Roadmap is being speedily implemented with the collaboration of British Department for International Development (DFID). He said that reforms are being introduced in health sector with the cooperation and consultation of DFID.
                   
He was presiding over a high level meeting with regard to Punjab Health Reforms Roadmap, here today. The meeting reviewed in detail implementation of Punjab Health Reforms Roadmap and action plan. The Chief Minister said that special attention is being paid to primary healthcare and rural and basic health centers are being made centers for provision of quality health services to the common man in the real sense. He said that the ongoing mother and child healthcare programme will be speedily implemented with the cooperation of DFID. He directed that a programme should also be evolved for the provision of modern training to health workers on the pattern of training programme of teachers in education sector. The Chief Minister said that digital monitoring of vaccination programme is being carried out and measures have been taken for expanding the coverage of vaccination programme against diseases. He said that special attention is being paid to mother and child healthcare under Punjab Health Reforms Roadmap. Shahbaz Sharif said that mobile health units are providing excellent medical services to the masses in the rural areas. 

He said that the targets of Punjab Health Reforms Roadmap can be achieved with collective efforts. He said that population control is of vital importance for progress and prosperity of the country. He said that a plan be evolved for rotavirus vaccination and its immediate implementation be started. The Chief Minister said that EDOs showing good performance with regard to Punjab Health Reforms Roadmap will be encouraged while those showning negligence in this regard will be held accountable. He appreciated the efficiency shown by EDO Sargodha in this regard and directed that this model be replicated in other districts. Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Member Provincial Assembly Rana Sanaullah Khan, Advisor Ijaz Nabi, Parliamentary Secretary Khawaja Imran Nazeer, Chief Secretary, Secretary Health, health experts, DFID representative Sir Michael Barber and members of DFID team were also present on the occasion.
