Constant Monitoring & Abrupt Response Help in Controlling Dengue

Advisor Health Punjab, Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that emergent steps should be continued for overcoming dengue completely. He said that the situation is improving gradually due to 100 percent case response of dengue patients and reduction in temperature, however there is a need to take further steps for checking dengue in future. He said that Provincial Health Department and administration are keeping a watchful eye on the situation and besides capacity building and research, all possible measures are being taken for the improvement of medical facilities and participation of all concerned institutions in dengue control programme.
                        
He stated this during anti-dengue meeting at Rawalpindi. DCO Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar Daal, Technical Advisor on Dengue Prof. Dr. Waseem Akram, officers of district government, EDO Health Rawalpindi Dr. Zafar Iqbal Gondal and other officers of Health Department were present on the occasion. The meeting reviewed the current measures and future strategy in the light of data being compiled on daily basis regarding number of patients and identification of larva in dengue affected areas of Rawal Town, City and Cantt Rawalpindi. Khawaja Salman Rafique appreciated the efforts of Health Department, administration and all concerned institutions regarding immediate measures against dengue disease. He said that although number of dengue patients is decreasing due to weather change however, strenuous efforts should be continued for checking dengue.
                        
DCO Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar Daal informed the meeting about latest situation regarding overcoming dengue and provision of medical facilities to the patients in Rawalpindi. During briefing by Health Department, the meeting was informed about the situation of dengue during last 24 hours. Later, Khawaja Salman Rafique visited the areas of Cantonment Board, Rawalpindi and Cantt Board Chaklala. He discussed about the facilities provided by Punjab government to cantonment boards for overcoming dengue and assured provision of all possible resources by the government in this regard. He also went to Holy Family and other hospitals of Rawalpindi and inquired after dengue patients. He also visited some union councils seriously affected by dengue and reviewed dengue measures.
