Foolproof Security Plan Designed for Muharram

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed that foolproof security arrangements be made in the province for Muharram ul Haram and, in view of the existing situation, all necessary measures be taken for the protection of life and property of the citizens. He said that security plan evolved for this purpose should be strictly implemented. He said that concerned departments and agencies should perform their duties with best coordination. He said that all out resources will be provided to Police for ensuring peace and tranquility and it should perform its responsibilities with commitment and efficiency.

He was presiding over a high-level meeting to review overall law and order situation in the province and security arrangements for Muharram ul Haram, here today. Secretary Home and Inspector General Police Punjab gave a detailed briefing to the Chief Minister in this regard. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that improvement of law and order in the province is the top priority of the government and all out resources are being utilized for this purpose. He directed that a watchful eye be kept on miscreants and suspects. He said that security equipment should be fully functional while special attention should be paid to the security of sensitive places. The Chief Minister further directed that the law against provocative speeches and literature be strictly implemented while stern action be taken without any discrimination against the elements involved in misuse of loudspeakers and violation of the ban on wall-chalking. He also directed concerned departments and agencies to perform their duties with best coordination. He said that the Cabinet Committee should visit all divisional headquarters to review the arrangements for Muharram ul Haram. He stressed that an effective communication system be evolved for immediate contact between the concerned institutions. Provincial Ministers Shuja Khanzada, Bilal Yasin, Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, Member Provincial Assembly Rana Sanaullah, Special Assistant Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Chief Secretary, Secretary Home, Inspector General Police, Secretary Health, Secretary Information and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
